Overview

How e-invoicing works in Saudi Arabia

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) introduced e-invoicing in two phases. Phase 1 requires businesses to generate invoices electronically. Phase 2 requires their invoicing systems to integrate with ZATCA's FATOORA platform, and ZATCA brings taxpayers into Phase 2 in waves based on their revenue.

Under Phase 2, standard tax invoices to businesses are cleared by ZATCA before they reach the buyer, and simplified invoices to travellers are reported within 24 hours. TravelSuite ERP prepares both from the invoices your agency already issues for tickets, hotels, Umrah packages, visas and tours.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is ZATCA e-invoicing included?

Yes. E-invoicing for Saudi Arabia is included in the Business plan and in Enterprise contracts.

What is the difference between clearance and reporting?

Standard tax invoices issued to businesses must be cleared by ZATCA before they are shared with the buyer. Simplified invoices issued to individual travellers are reported to ZATCA within 24 hours.

Which Phase 2 wave applies to my agency?

ZATCA announces each wave by revenue and notifies the taxpayers in it. Our team will help you prepare for the date ZATCA gives you.

Do invoices have to be in Arabic?

Invoices must include the required fields in Arabic. TravelSuite ERP can print Arabic and English side by side.

What happens if an invoice is rejected?

The invoice shows ZATCA's error message. Correct the details, such as a missing VAT number, and submit it again.

Can I issue credit notes?

Yes. Refunds and cancellations are issued as credit notes linked to the original e-invoice, and follow the same clearance or reporting rules.
